Terms of Service
Last updated 6 September 2026
Plain terms for a free early-access product. No subscription, no automatic renewal, and your data stays yours.
Agreement
These terms govern your use of LedgerLeaf. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use LedgerLeaf.
The service
LedgerLeaf is a personal finance tool for recording, importing, categorizing, and reviewing your own financial data, and for optionally sharing a scoped view of it with a professional you choose.
LedgerLeaf does not connect to your bank and does not move money. It records what you enter or import.
Early access
LedgerLeaf is in free early access. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and no automatic renewal — so there is nothing to cancel and no charge to expect.
Early-access software changes. Features may be added, altered, or withdrawn, and occasional interruptions are likely. If we introduce paid plans, existing users will be told in advance and will never be charged without opting in.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for activity that happens under it. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access.
You must be at least 16 years old to use LedgerLeaf.
You may close your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is immediate and self-service.
Your data
Your financial data is yours. We claim no ownership of it, and we do not sell it. You grant us only the permission needed to host, process, and display it back to you, and to share it with people you explicitly grant a permit to.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload.
How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Acceptable use
Do not use LedgerLeaf to break the law, to store data you have no right to hold, or to attempt to access another user's data.
Do not attempt to disrupt the service, circumvent access controls or rate limits, or probe our systems without written permission. Responsible security research is welcome — contact us first.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, and will tell you why where we lawfully can.
Not financial advice
LedgerLeaf presents your own data back to you. Its dashboards, categorizations, reports, and any insights it surfaces are informational only, and are not financial, tax, investment, accounting, or legal advice.
Automated categorization and pattern detection can be wrong. Check figures before relying on them, and consult a qualified professional before making decisions. You remain responsible for your own filings and financial choices.
Professional access
If you grant a professional access to your data, you are responsible for choosing who to trust. If you are a professional using LedgerLeaf, you must only access client data you have been permitted to access, and only for the purpose the client granted it.
LedgerLeaf is not a party to the relationship between you and your professional, and is not responsible for advice they give.
Availability
During early access, LedgerLeaf is provided as-is and as-available, with no uptime guarantee. We monitor the service and aim to resolve faults promptly, but we do not promise uninterrupted operation.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. You can export your transactions to CSV at any time.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, LedgerLeaf is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost data, or financial decisions made on the basis of information shown in the service.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms. For material changes we will update the date above and notify you before they take effect. Continuing to use LedgerLeaf after that means you accept the new terms.
You may stop using LedgerLeaf and delete your account at any time. We may end your access if you materially breach these terms, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we will give reasonable notice and time to export your data.
